Mark Pontius is an American musician and songwriter. He was the drummer and co-vocalist of indie pop band Foster the People, which also includes Mark Foster. He was also part of indie pop band Malbec. He is nicknamed Ponsi.
Mark is the son of Harriet and Lawrence Pontius. He has a daughter.
Mark’s paternal grandfather was Bert Everette Pontius (the son of William Oscar Pontius and Ethel Z. Gotts). Bert was born in Ohio. William was the son of Levi Pontius and Sarah Catharine Butler. Ethel was the daughter of English parents, George G. Gotts and Anne Woolsey.
Mark’s paternal grandmother was Jaunetti Ione/Iowne Norton (the daughter of Noel/Nole Alfred Norton and Vernal/Vernall Elizabeth Keltner). Noel was the son of William H. Norton, whose parents were from New York, and of Alice Nixon, whose parents were Irish. Vernal was the daughter of James Albert Keltner and Alice Victoria Thatcher.
